Statistics as a Platform in Education for Sustainable Development

If educators are to effectively prepare learners with the knowledge, skills, and values they will need for creating more sustainable places and communities, a transition must be made from transmissive teaching models to transformative learning processes.

And that is the reason why Educ 213 (Educational Statistics) of NDMU Graduate School under Dr. Ava ClareRobles are using platforms like course projects, independent study, and graduate student research which highlighting the way that students are leading the charge toward a sustainable future. For instance, they are not only involved in the learning process, but they also serve a critical role in teaching and research productivity. Developing a graduate student’s pedagogy will influence future educational practices which are particularly important since majority of the graduate students under her are faculty members from different schools.

Now the question is, how important is Educational Statistics in Sustainable Development? As I browsed the net, I found this case study of Dave Tomkins and Peter Tsigaris on BombThreats, Global Warming and Decision Making which I think very relevant and interesting topic on how useful is the Statistics to the students in dealing with Education for SustainableDevelopment.
